Burnley Golf Club is a James Braid designed course and is situated on the fringe of the Habergham Eaves moors, making excellent use of the rolling countryside. Glen View, as it is known locally, offers a true test of golf to golfers of every standard.
The panoramic views from the course and the clubhouse are truly breath-taking, and include Pendle Hill, the Ribble Valley, Gorple Moor and the 'Three Peaks' of Ingleborough, Whernside and Pen-y-Ghent and the Lakeland hills beyond.
The course is in excellent condition and rarely closes. The greens, in particular, receive regular, positive praise. The practice facilities are comprehensive and include a purpose built golf academy with indoor swing room and covered bays. Buggies and electric trollies are available and can be booked from the well-stocked Professional’s Shop.
Each hole at Glen View offers its own challenges and rewards. Many rate the 5th hole as the most difficult, with out of bounds all the way down one side and a water hazard (stream) across the fairway.
The four par threes all offer different challenges, from water hazards to well positioned defensive bunkers. The 11th par three hole is particularly well defended and the rhododendron bushes offer an amazing backdrop to this beautiful hole.
Standing on the 18th tee bed, with its high stroke index and the clubhouse invitingly in sight, is not the time to lose focus. There is a tempting ‘out of bounds’ to the right and a shimmering lake to the left. A true, well positioned tee shot will be duly rewarded and your second shot to the green can be admired from the clubhouse balcony, which overlooks it. The clubhouse and its balcony offers the perfect place to enjoy a well-earned drink and delicious home-made fayre whilst you watch other fellow competitors negotiate the 18th hole or tee off on the 1st.
Visitors are always assured of a warm welcome at Burnley Golf Club. Two seater Golf Buggies available for hire. We also offer a Golf Academy with studio, simulator and covered practice bays.
