Dumbarton Golf Club, one of the oldest in the West of Scotland, owes its existence largely to the fact that in 1887 a few of the towns illustrious shipbuilding sons holidayed at St Andrews. There, inevitably one might say, they tried their “prentice hands on the Old Course”. Although they had them badly bitten, they returned to the 700 year old Royal Burgh, situated where the Leven meets the Clyde, bent on forming a club of their own.
We have a dress code, and failure to adhere to it will result in visitors being refused play and/or asked to leave.
When playing golf, we ask that the correct attire is worn when on the course.
All members and visitors are expected to show a degree of responsibility in maintaining the standards of the Club and while the attire may be casual, it must remain smart at all times. The following items of wear are however specifically banned from:-
The Course
Gents: Denim Jeans, football or rugby colours, sleeveless shirts, track suits, shell suits, hoodies and all sports shorts unless seen to be tailored. Only accepted golf shoes may be worn on the Course.
Ladies: Ladies must wear appropriate golf tops. Denim Jeans, track suits, football or rugby colours, shell suits, and all sports shorts unless seen to be tailored are forbidden. Only accepted golf shoes may be worn on the Course.
