Welshpool Golf Club is an 18 hole course that once played won’t be forgotten in a hurry. The views are simply spectacular, a panoramic vista of miles of Welsh hillside and farmland with the mountains of Snowdonia as a backdrop. The course was designed by the veteran champion James Braid in the early part of the last century and the giant peaks of Snowdon and Cader Idris are both presented in the wonderful vistas of mountain scenery. John Stutt of Paisley, who built the course, likened it to the famous Gleneagles course. He insisted, however, that Gleneagles does not offer anything like the spectacular shots with which Welshpool abounds.
Welshpool is 5846 yards in length, winding round hilltops and valleys, this course will test the fitness levels for golfers of all skill levels. The course is described to be a beautiful walk in the Welsh countryside, supported by many amazing views along the way.
The course is fairly tight, with a lot of trouble awaiting you if you wonder too far from the fairway. The rough is not very penalizing however the many fern bushes found scattered around the course are where the golf course mounts a lot of it’s defense.
