Located only 1 mile from the M4 junction 24 in South Wales, Llanwern Golf Club is situated in a great golfing area, which is also home to the 2010 Ryder Cup host venue The Celtic Manor Resort. In fact, Llanwern Golf Club was actually founded the year after the 1st edition of the Ryder Cup & as chance would have it US captain Walter Hagen was invited to Llanwern to formally open the clubs new 18-hole layout 10 years later in 1937. The club was also included in Peter Allis’s ‘top 3 hidden gems in the UK’.
This parkland par 70, measures 6,177 yards and offers a great challenge to golfers of all abilities. A gentle start followed by 3 par 5’s between holes 3-8 await visitors to Llanwern. Holes 9, 12 & 14 are positioned nicely adjacent from the neighboring Dockwell Wood, making them some of the most picturesque holes on the course. The signature hole at Llanwern is the par-3 18th hole. The elevated tee gives visitors a great view of the green, however, also shows trees that protect the right-hand side of the green & strategically places bunkers awaiting tee shots lacking accuracy.
The clubs fully stocked pro shop can cater for all of your golfing needs before your round, while the club’s extensive bar & restaurant menu provides visitors with the perfect opportunity to finish the golfing experience at Llanwern with a hot meal & refreshment with the club’s variety of beers, cider, spirits & soft drinks.
