One of the most scenic courses in the UK, Bangor St Deiniol Golf Club is blessed with one of the most spectacular locations the golfing world has to offer. Perched high on the hill above the historic city of Bangor, the most breath-taking panoramas of the surrounding area unfurl before you as you work your way around the course; the often snow-capped peaks of Snowdonia, the Lleyn Peninsula, over the Menai Straits to Anglesey and north west to the Great Orme. A magnificent James Braid layout, the club was formed in 1906 and is a wonderful example of the natural design of golf courses by this masterful architect.
A trademark of James Braid’s magnificent golf course designs was the way he utilised the natural contours of the land to create unique and interesting features. Bangor St Deiniol Golf Club is no different and the terrain here provides a number of bumps and rolls to give this course a unique style and grace. Predominantly heathland, the course is high up and drains very well year round, but the scenery from the hill top is the really magical feature of this superb location. The par 4 12th takes you to the top of the hill, allowing you to soak up the majesty of the 360 degree views that would surely compete with any golf course in the world.
